About The Alpharetta Historical Society

Our Mission

The mission of the Alpharetta Historical Society is to promote an interest in and the study of history, genealogy, and related fields as it collects, assembles, preserves, and disseminates historical and genealogical information related to Alpharetta and old Milton County for the benefit of its members, their descendants, and the public.

The Alpharetta Historical Society Today

The Society conducts a wide variety of programs and projects:

• Historical and genealogical research
• Preservation and restoration projects
• Historical programs for Society members and the public
• Presentations and demonstrations for schools
• Publications of local research

The Society also operates the Mansell House as a special events facility.

Research Library And Archives
A growing collection of historical documents, genealogy files, photographs, maps, books, and microfilms are available to the public for research.

Log Cabin At Milton High School
Originally constructed between 1934 and 1935 by students in the Future Farmers of America Milton High School Chapter, the Cabin is maintained as a teaching museum by the Alpharetta Historical Society in a cooperative effort with Milton High School, the Fulton County Board of Education, and the City of Alpharetta.

Heritage Programs
Members of the Society provide historical programs at local schools or on site at the Log Cabin at Milton High School and at the Mansell House and Gardens.

Mansell House And Gardens
The Queen Anne style house, constructed in 1912, is owned by the City of Alpharetta and managed by the Alpharetta Historical Society as a special events facility.

Community Programs
The Alpharetta Historical Society is an active participant in community programs: Alpharetta Heritage Festival, Old Soldiers Day Parade, and Taste of Alpharetta.

Governance

The Alpharetta Historical Society is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization governed by the State of Georgia. We operate under a Board of Trustees consisting of elected trustees, officers, and standing committee chairpersons. [ Officers and Committees ]
